The Lord is Good!

The Lord is good!(Lamentations 3:25) I am convinced of that. However, I have run into people who do not believe God is good. I think I know why they feel that way. They have a much different way of looking at God, because they do not know Him and His Word.

People want God to do everything their way. When they pray, they pray for their will. Then, when God doesn't jump to do it their way, they think He is not good. As I have said before, this really makes them God, and it makes God their servant. God doesn't work that way.

God is good to those who wait on Him and seek Him. Sometimes, He allows troubles to come, and He even punishes people severely, like He did Israel. Through it all He is working His good will for them to really know Him and to have the abundant life He has designed for them. A person never gets to the abundant life by going his or her own way.

People talk about wanting God's unconditional love. God does love unconditionally. He loves everyone, no matter how sinful they are. He loves them so much He sent His Only Begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to die for all people. However, God can't endorse sin. He does not act happy with us when we sin, because He does love us, and He is good. He leads us to do the right things, because He is good. If He did anything less, He would not be good.
