Passionate Sowing and Reaping
People who are passionate about something to the point of shedding tears are rare today. It really seems that we live in a time of complacency and even apathy. However, God desires for us to be passionate about Him and doing His will. He gives us a promise that if we are passionate about sowing His seed, we will see fruit from our labors.(Psalm 126:5,6)
As we read the Bible we see the analogy of sowing and reaping repeatedly, since they were mostly farmers and shepherds. The people of Bible times knew just what it took to raise a crop. It took dedication, hard work, sweat and tears. The farmer had to be committed to working long hours without seeing many results for a long time. In patience, he waited for the harvest. Sometimes it came; sometimes it didn't. Sometimes it was a big harvest, other times it was small. There were a lot of factors that effected the harvest.
In God's field we are the farmers. We sow the seed of His Word and the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We can't produce the harvest either. That is up to the Lord, as He reveals Himself and the Holy Spirit draws people to trust Christ. However, we can be assured of the harvest of souls, if we go passionately and continually, being faithful to sow the precious seed of God's Word. Therefore, the lack of the harvest in our case is not God's fault. We hold the key. Will be go with tears? Will we love with Christ's love, so that we are dedicated to finish the task before us? Will we give our all as He did? It is up to us. What will we do?
Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 127-129.
