The Smile of God
The blessing that God gave to Aaron through Moses, which was to be used by the priests to bless the people of Israel was simple and succinct.(Numbers 6:24-26) In effect it says, "May God smile upon you." What a wonderful word picture!
Think of your heart when someone greets you with a bright smile. You look at them, and their face lights up in return. They are glad to see you. They welcome you. They love you. The smile is a sigh of favor. When we have the favor of God, we have grace and peace. When we have grace and peace, we are blessed. We are kept by His power.
Therefore, I say to each of you, "The Lord bless you and keep you. The Lord make His face to shine upon you. The Lord lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace."
Tomorrow, I intend to read Numbers 8-10.
