The Love of Jesus
One of the things that amazes me about God is how He loves us so. His nature is love, so it should not surprise me, but it does. I am in awe of the Creator, who desires an intimate love relationship with me and every other person on the planet. His love is not passive, either. He does not sit back and wait for us to come to Him. He takes the first step. He comes to us. In fact, Jesus came from His perfect existence in Heaven to join with us in human flesh, so He could shower His love upon us, and pay for our sins in love. That is real love, isn't it?
The same love should be shown in our lives once we know Christ, and He comes into our lives. We should leave our comfort zone to show genuine love for those around us. We should be intentional about loving them, not just to get them to come to church or anything like that, but just because we love them. Of course, we will show them Jesus and the good news in our relationship with them, but that is not the reason we engage them. We are simply to show the love of Jesus.
This takes time and effort. It takes sacrifice. However, it is the essence of being a Christian. If we do not do this, we are not "like Christ." Therefore, I would ask each of us to consider how intentional we are about loving other people, especially those who don't know Christ and those who are not like us. How much time and effort do we expend? Are we willing to sacrifice? That is what it takes to show the love of Jesus to a lost and dying world.
Today, I read Isaiah 25-27.
