Dream Or Nightmare
There is a common myth today that we need to create big dreams for our lives. Even some Christians believe this is right. They think that once they decide what they want to do, God will bless it. They have it backwards. God does not bless our plans. He is God, so we are to follow Him.
In fact, Isaiah 30:1 says that it is a serious matter to make plans without following His Spirit. What happens is that we add sin to sin. Sin is missing His will, even if we are doing something good. If it is not of the Lord, it is sin. If we are pursuing our own dreams, it will turn into a nightmare at some point.
Instead, we should wait on the Lord and expect that He will reveal His plans by His Spirit. Then, as we listen, He will show us His plans for us, which are far better than anything we can dream up. Then, He will bless us as we set our hearts on completing His plans for our lives. He even gives us the strength to do them, because they are His will.
Today, I read Isaiah 28-30.
