Conviction Of Sin
Bitterness of the soul is different from the bitterness that comes from unresolved anger and holding grudges. When we are being convicted of our sins, we have a burden in our hearts and a bitter taste in our souls. We know that something is terribly wrong. There should be sweetness, but instead, there is bitterness. The only solution is repentance.
This type of bitterness will not go away completely until we turn to the Lord. It may lessen some with time, but God will continue to remind us of what we need to do to be in His will. He does this because He loves us, and He wants us to have peace.(Isaiah 38:17) At times He prods us with sickness, financial troubles, or personal problems to try to point us to repentance. He is showing us, we are going the wrong way. The only way to get to Him is to turn around and go the other way. That is repentance.
I pray that we will all recognize God's conviction of our sins, so we can take the road that leads to Him and to forgiveness of our sins.
Today, I read Isaiah 35-38.
