Effective Communication
Most people have a difficult time communicating in a satisfying way. The reason is that we do not understand the dynamics of communication. We would think that would be easy, since we all learn to speak, but it is quite challenging.
Remember, three things can happen when you talk to another person or a group of people. You can say it correctly, but they misunderstand. This happens, because they are seeing things from their own perspective, or they are not listening well. You can say it incorrectly, so they miss your point. This happens when we do not realize how we come across or we use the wrong words. You can say it correctly, and they get just what you meant. This is the only time effective communication occurs. We get it from our heads to their heads, and they get the same point we meant for them to get. Can you see all of the variables?
Therefore, if people keep saying, "You didn't say that." or "No, you said this." There is some obstacle to communicating that you need to overcome. You can do it, but you have to think of the whole process of communicating and not just think about saying something.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Job 6-8.
