Lovers of Money
Another thing our men discussed in our Monday morning Bible Study was from Luke 16:14where Luke tells us that the Pharisees were "lovers of money." This caused them to deride or scoff at Jesus. I Timothy 6:10 assures us that the love of money is "the root of all kinds of evil." Personally, I believe that the love of money is the cause of much of the evil in this world. Just think of all of the things people will do to get money or because of money. Think of what money does to people once they get it. See what I mean.
Consider what the loves of money does. Think about how many lies are told to acquire money. There is so much illegal activity that has to do with alcohol, drugs, pornography, and sex that has money at its root. Think of the anger and violence that is conjured up by the love of money. Consider the relationships that are damaged and the marriages that are broken because of the love of money. I could go on and on.
Shouldn't that be enough to lead us to change our outlook on money? Yes, it is necessary for us to have money and to use it wisely. However, when we begin to love it and crave it or the things it buys, we run into real trouble. I hope that we will all see this and ask God to help us hold money in the proper perspective. It is only good when we don't love it, and we use it for the things that honor God, not us.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Judges 10-12.
March 8 – Romans 12:1
Sincerely give your whole self to the Lord, body, soul, spirit; mind, will, and emotions; your hands, feet, eyes, ears, mouth, tongue, and every other part of you for His use and for His glory.
