Love
You may have noticed my verses for today. They were I John 4:10-11, which describe real love. Real love is God's love for us. There are several things about His love that we need to see.
God loved us first. Many people want another person to love them first, and then, they will respond. God's love is the opposite. He loves us first, and He loves us even if we do not love Him back.
God's love is a giving love. He gave His Son for us. He gave Him as a sacrifice for our sins. In other words, He gave us the ultimate gift. He gave His life for us, so we could be forgiven. He did this before we turned from our sins. Jesus' love for us was complete and sacrificial whether we love Him or not.
That is real love! However, the clincher is that once we come to know Christ, we are to share that same type of love with others. We are to love others before they love us, and we are to give ourselves for them, whether they ever love us or not. That is hard to do, but Christ will enable us to do it, if we ask him. He is love, and He wants us to love with His love.
I have a feeling if all Christians loved with God's real love, the whole world would come to hear about Jesus in a short time.
Tomorrow, I intend to read I John 5, II John, and III John.
