The Light
This evening we had our candlelight service for Christmas Eve. It is always a good time to slow down from the hustle and bustle just long enough to think about what happened that first Christmas. The Eternal One broke into time. He came in love. He came as a baby, born in a stable with the animals. He was revealed to the lowly shepherds, not so much to the kings. He came for all of us, not just for the rich. Jesus was Love in a baby's body. What a present!
Each year I try to make the point of our service that we are to spread the Light. In fact, we are the only ones who can do it now. We are His Body in this world. We have to be His hands and feet and voice. The darkness of our world could never overcome the Light. Darkness can't dispel light. However, if we do not spread the light of Christ, the darkness can grow more and more.
Once we know Jesus, the Light resides in us. We must let His light shine through us to the darkness around us. We must love others with His love. We must show them the way to the Christ. Christmas is God coming to us, so now, we go to the world.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Revelation 3-5.
