God's Pursuit of Us
This morning I spoke to our academy students as I usually do on Thursdays. We considered a verse for Christmas, John 1:14. This verse makes a giant truth come alive when it says, "And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us." I believe we all need to consider the consequences of this for our lives.
God came after us, because He loves us. God's love is so strong that He pursues us, instead of us having to seek for Him. This tells us volumes about the character of God. He is proactive in His approach, and He wants everyone to know Him in a personal way. Therefore, He initiates the relationship. He shows up in our lives in many ways to reveal who He is and how He loves us. Then, we have to respond to His advances by trusting Him. The Bible makes this plain over and over.
So many people think God is hard to find. They search and search in all kinds of strange ways. They miss God, though, since He is not hiding. He is right in front of us. We just have to listen for Him and watch to see what He shows us. That is why this verse refers to Jesus as the "Word." He came to communicate God to us. He left Heaven and all of its glory to be with us, so we could see Him in person. What a wonderful God!
Tomorrow, I intend to read Hebrews 13 and James 1-2.
