Your Will Be Done
This evening we talked about Jesus and prayer in our worship/discipleship time. Part of the focus was on Jesus' prayer in Gethsemane before going to the Cross for us. He was able to stand the strain of what would happen, because of His dependence on the Father and His great desire to do His will once and for all. His prayer is so important for us. Christ said, "Not My will, but Your will be done."
This is the picture of unselfishness, which was part of the morning message. However, the main thing is that Jesus was so ready to put aside the pain to do God's will for us. He did not press for His well being, only for the Father to use Him and guide Him. This is the picture of how we should pray every time we go to the Father. We must not insist on our way. We must submit to His way.
Let's make sure we are sincere in our prayers and that we always tell the Lord we are seeking His will. Then, He can use us for His glory, and we can receive His special blessing for being faithful to Him.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Matthew 27-28 and Mark 1.
