What Do You Need Most?
I would love to see a pollster ask people this question, "What do you need most?" I think it would be fascinating to see the totally honest answers people would give to a stranger taking a poll. However, even then, people might not be completely transparent.
There are two answers to this very important question. The answer depends on your present situation in life. If you have not found real life which come from knowing the Lord Jesus Christ, He is what you need most. Without Him, you do not have life, and you have nothing of eternal value.
If you do have life in Christ, the answer is that you need the filling of the Holy Spirit on a daily basis. He is the Paraclete, the One given to us by God to pick us up and carry us when we can't make it on our own. He is the Spirit of Truth, who will lead you into all truth. He is the One who raised Jesus from the dead, and with Him empowering you, you have that same power available in your life.
Our men talked about this as we studied Luke 11 this morning at 5 AM. If you wanted money or a good job or a good family situation the most, you really need the Holy Spirit. He will show you how to follow God's will for your finances, He will lead you to the right job, and He can bless your family in amazing ways as you follow Him. If you received what you think you need most today, in a short period of time, you would need something else. If you have the Spirit, you have the One who can lead you to find and embrace all you will ever need.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Jeremiah 52 and Lamentations 1-2.
