God's Presence or Success
This morning my devotional reading from Experiencing God Day By Day was taken from Exodus 33:15. God told Moses that He would allow the people of Israel to have success entering the Promised Land, but He would not go with them. He would not allow them to experience His presence because of their unfaithfulness the first time He told them to enter the land. Therefore, they had to decide between God's Presence and success. Moses told God that if He would not go with them, they would not go. He knew that God's Presence was much more important than success.
Many people today have not learned this lesson. They have chosen success, instead of God's Presence. This is so sad. They would rather have earthly pleasures than the joy and peace from walking with God. It shows that they do not realize that God desires a relationship with us above all else. How about you? What would you rather have, God's Presence or success? The Lord Jesus was clear on this when He told us, "What does it profit a man, if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?" Nothing should be as precious to us as knowing the Lord and living in His Presence by being faithful to Him.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Esther 3-5.
