Open to the Gospel
It is so wonderful to see people who are open to the gospel of Jesus Christ. It seems like we have been seeing more and more people who are seeking the Lord lately. The Holy Spirit is moving to draw people to salvation. I praise the Lord for this, and I pray that it will continue.
This past Sunday morning we celebrated the Lord's Supper. I always take the whole service to focus on the meaning, instead of just doing it at the end of a regular service. This time when we closed with the commitment song, a young lady came forward to confess Christ as her Lord and Savior. What a blessing! Many times we do not think of a Lord's Supper service as being evangelistic, but the message is so clear. The Holy Spirit used it to touch this dear lady's heart. In February we had a man saved during our Lord's Supper service.
Then, last night at visitation time, Steve and Jeff made a visit that lasted a long time, because the folks were so ready to discuss spiritual things. What a refreshing encounter. They were able to share the whole gospel and to answer a lot of questions. I believe the Lord used them in a powerful way.
That is why the Lord laid this on my heart today. We never know who will be open and ready unless we share the truth of the gospel with them. We can't save them, but if the Lord is drawing them, and they have been prepared by certain events, we can lead them to put their trust in Jesus. That is a great blessing, but we miss it sometimes, when we think that people are not open to the gospel.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Jeremiah 32-33 and Hebrews 1.
