Do Not Fret
I read Psalm 37 again today. Now that I have heard Henry Blackaby teach on it, I always seem to focus in on the phrase "do not fret." That is really the theme of the whole psalm, because David must have learned that truth in all of his trials. Fretting never makes things better, it always makes us feel worse, and it is a sign of a lack of faith. God promises that He will cause all things to work together for good to those who love Him and are called according to His purpose. I believe He meant that, so there is no need to fret.
Instead of fretting over things that might go wrong or that have been disappointing, why not count all of the blessings and the promises of God. He will lift your spirits and set your feet on a rock. There are many people who can tell you why they can't do something, but there are only a few who believe that they can be victorious through the Lord's direction and power. These people don't need to fret. They are having too much satisfaction in following the plans of the Lord and seeing Him work it all out.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 40-42 and Acts 27:1-26.
