Trusting God for the Everyday Things and the Unusual - Leviticus 25 and Mark 1:23-45
Leviticus 25 may seem very strange to us in our modern world, but the principle is very important. When God commanded us to take a Sabbath day each week, He knew what He was doing. When He commanded Israel to observe the Sabbath year every seven years and the year of Jubilee every fifty years, He knew what He was doing. Of course, each one provided rest for the people, and the later provided rest for the land, too. However, that was not the only issue. There was the issue of trust. I marvel at the trust it would take for a farmer to not plant any crops every seven years. It was a practice in submission to God´s authority and a practice in trusting His faithfulness. I believe we all need learn this lesson by trusting God for the everyday things of life. Read Matthew 6:25 and following, and see if that is not what Jesus was saying.
Then, in Mark 1 we read about several miracles. These were very unusual situations, but it shows what the Lord can do when we trust Him. Then, we see why they were happening. Jesus was rising early to seek the will of the Father and to follow Him in complete trust. When anyone does that, he or she will see God work not only in the everyday things, but in the unusual things, too. How is it going in your life? I pray that each of us are seeing God ´s provision in both of these ways, because we have learned to submit to Him in faith.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Leviticus 26-27 and Mark 2.
