God´s Blessings Follow Faith and Obedience - Leviticus 26-27 and Mark 2
It is very evident from reading these last two chapters in Leviticus that God is leading us to obey Him by blessing us when we obey Him in faith and by punishing us when we disobey. Any parent would realize this process from raising children to do the right things. When the parents, instruct the children and then, reward them for doing right, there is a greater chance that the children will learn. Then, when the children disobey, there must be punishment to eliminate the wrong behavior. Once they realize the error of their ways, they can repent and begin to obey, again. That is how God led Israel, and that is how He leads us. He is a wonderful Father. Just think of the one example at the end of Leviticus, which is tithing. God blesses us so much, when we obey Him, and we give the ten percent back to Him. However, when we disobey and rob God, we see how He punishes us.
Mark 2 has several examples of this, too. Jesus healed the paralytic, because of the faith of the four men and the paralyzed man. Then, Jesus explained about fasting and the Sabbath. What is the point? God rewards the righteous keeping of His laws, not just keeping the traditions of men. He cares about the spirit of the law, too. However, when He sees our hearts trying to keep His laws, and He sees our actions, He blesses us. If we don´t keep them in spirit and in truth, He punishes us. I pray that each of us will evaluate our faith and obedience today.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Numbers 1-2 and Mark 3:1-19.
