Walk in Light or in Total Darkness

Some mornings when I get up to walk for exercise, it is very dark. If it is cloudy, the darkness is worse. If there is fog, it is almost impossible to see where I am going. It is much better to walk when the moon is shining, like it was this morning. That is the analogy that the Lord used with Jeremiah to show His people what they should do. (Jeremiah 13:15,16) I pray we will all heed his warning.

God calls us to listen and to pay attention to Him. Many believers never take time to pay close attention to what God is saying to them. They do not study His Word. Some hardly ever even go to church. This shows that pride has overtaken them. They believe they can live life well by themselves. That is a terrible mistake. We all need to listen to God and give Him glory, so He knows we are fully submissive to Him, not proud. If we fail to give God the glory, we will not have light to see which way we should go in our life. We will expect Him to give us that light, but He will bring darkness, instead. In fact, God will make it darker and darker, until we are walking in total darkness. We will begin to run into all kinds of obstacles that are painful and destructive to us and others. It is God's desire for us to come to our senses, because we realize we can't live without light from Him. Then, we can turn to Him, listen and submit by giving glory to Him. Finally, the light will dawn on us to see clearly where to go and what to do.
