The Attributes of God
Jeremiah gives us a synopsis of the attributes of God in two verses. (Jeremiah 10:10,12) I wonder how we would answer people who asked us to describe God? I know God is so vast that is is hard to give a full description. However, I believe that most people would focus on the love of God. Yes, God is love, but He has many important attributes that we need to know, too. Let's look at Jeremiah's list and soak in what he was inspired to tell us.
God is the true God. He has no falsehood about Him in any way. He alone is the True God, so all others are false gods. He is alive. He is not dead as some people claim. He is very much living and active today. At the same time God is eternal. He was always alive, and He will always be alive. He is love, but His wrath is very powerful, too. The earth quakes at His wrath, and the nations of the world cannot endure His rage. We must not forget to fear the Lord, because of His righteous anger against sin. God made the earth by His power. He has more than enough power to create anything He desires. He established the world by His wisdom. That is why everything in the world works together so well. Also, His understanding is beyond our comprehension. He spread out the heavens by His understanding. They are so vast that we cannot even search them out, but He knows everything about the universe. What a great and awesome God we have. We must never forget His attributes. We should show all people the greatness of the One True God.
