Waiting on the Lord

There are several Bible passages that tell us to wait on the Lord. My pastor used to say that if something was in the Bible once, it was very important. However, if it was included in several places, the Lord was putting even more emphasis on that thing. I believe He was right. I think it would benefit us to hear what Jeremiah said about waiting on the Lord, so we can heed it in our own daily walk with the Lord. (Lamentations 3:25,26)

"God is good to those who wait for Him." If we want God to be good to us, we should decide to wait for Him, instead of rushing head-long into the circumstances of our lives without consulting Him first. This is the way we should seek the Lord in everything, not just the things we think we can't handle on our own. Remember, God's way is always best, and we need His power to do anything. (John 15:5) "It is good that one should wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord." Waiting quietly sounds like being patient to me. What about you? When we wait upon the Lord, He does not want us to badger Him for a quick answer. He wants us to show faith in Him and a contentment to hear the answer in His time. Jeremiah said that was a good thing, too. It is the way for us to see the salvation or deliverance of the Lord. All the while, we need to be aware that He can save us from things or He can save us through them. Either way is great, if it is God's will for us to grow us and to lead us to obedience.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Lamentations 5 and Ezekiel 1-2.
