Why God's Not Listening
David knew the Lord very well. He knew His character and His ways. We can see that from all that he wrote for us under the inspiration of the Spirit. One thing that David had come to know about God was that He does not listen to people who pray while having unconfessed sin in their hearts.(Psalm 66:18) Why should He? They are not listening to Him, as He convicts them of that sin.
Please, remember that God hates sin. He can't bless us when we are willfully sinning, or else He would be rewarding our sinful behavior. If He listened to our prayers and answered them while we were regarding iniquity in our hearts, we would think He was overlooking the sin and our need to confess it. He just can't do that, even though He loves us very much.
Let's make sure we confess our sins and repent of them, so that God can remove them and hear all of our prayers. It is the first step to having close fellowship with the Lord.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 67-69.
