Men's Applause
We all like to be recognized for what we do or who we are. Some people strive very hard to accepted by others and to achieve a lot so people will be pleased with them and compliment them. That is alright, unless we forget that the applause of men fades away. It has no real substance. It is God's favor that we should seek.(Psalm 75:6,7) He is the only True Judge of who we are and what we are doing. If He exalts us, we are truly blessed.
Are you seeking the exaltation of this world? If so, I want you to think about where all of your awards and recognitions will get you in eternity. They will be gone. Even if people remember you after you die, it will not really do you any lasting good. However, if God exalts you, it will help you in this life, because it will mean that people are seeing Jesus in your life. You are leading people in the right way, so they can know the Lord, too. God will bless you and them. Also, when we are faithful here so that God exalts us, we are laying up treasures in Heaven for eternity. God gives awards based on our faithfulness to Him and to His will here on earth. Those awards mean something forever. That is what we should be striving for, not because of the reward for us, bur for what it accomplishes for His kingdom.
