Coming to a Conclusion

Some people are always thinking, but they never come to a conclusion. I am sure there are many reasons for this, but it is not healthy. We need to draw a conclusion from the facts we have before us and act on that conclusion. That is what Solomon did at the end of Ecclesiastes.(Ecclesiastes 12:13,14) Consider what he concluded very carefully.

Man's all is to fear God and keep His commandments. After all, He is Lord, and we are the created beings whom He loves and whom He died to redeem from our sins. Why would we not fear the Creator and worship Him, as well as trusting and obeying the One who gave Himself for us? The answer is that some people come to a different conclusion than Solomon. That is up to each of us. What we do shows God our conclusion to the matter of Who He is.

However, we must consider our conclusion well, because He will have a final conclusion to our lives on earth that includes a time of judgment for all of our works. If we conclude the wrong thing, and we live for ourselves, instead of fearing and obeying Him, everything we have done in our lives will be shown to have been worthless, and we will be separated from God forever. This is a proper conclusion for two reasons. If what we do doesn't matter for any reason except to make us happy, why was it worthwhile eternally? If we reject God as Lord, why would we want to be around Him for eternity?

Tomorrow, I intend to read Song of Solomon 1-3.
