The Holy Spirit

It is easy to stop allowing the Spirit of the Lord to fill us and to empower us for His service and to start trying to do things in our own power. That is why the Lord had to give His famous admonition to Zerubbabel the governor of the people of Israel after the exile in Babylon.(Zechariah 4:6) He was leading them to rebuild the Temple and to restore the worship. God reminded him as He reminds us all the time that we must be totally dependent on the Holy Spirit.

It is amazing to think about the Holy Spirit. He is able to lead us in our praying, and He is able to teach us all things. He speaks directly to our hearts, so that we do not need another person to teach us. Then, He gives us the power to do whatever He has revealed to us. Therefore, the key is to surrender to the Spirit and to be totally obedient. Once we do that, all things are possible.

Of course, this is only true for believers. It is part of our relationship with Christ as our Lord and Savior. Knowing Christ is not just having our sins forgiven so that we have a life in heaven after we die. It is a daily relationship with His provision through the Spirit every day, so that we can live the abundant life here and now.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Zechariah 6- 9.
