Light For The Upright

My verse this morning was Psalm 112:4. It really spoke to me, because of a book I have been reading. The person in the book is a believer who was having all sorts of problems, and it was almost like God was not helping. However, this verse explains the problem. When we walk through the dark times of life, when we have temptations and special difficulties, the Lord gives light to those who are living uprightly. It is a result of His grace, compassion, and righteousness.

It only makes sense when we think about it. Light comes from the Word of God. Light comes through the Spirit illuminating the Word for us. Therefore, the upright person will have light from abiding in the Word and being filled with the Spirit. The believer who is out of fellowship with the Lord will have to walk in the darkness, until he or she turns to the Lord with a humble heart and seeks His way. If God worked any other way, He would be rewarding unrighteous living.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 114-116.
