Learning and Living God's Word

This evening we had the Awards Ceremony for our Awana ministry. Awana is an excellent ministry for teaching children the Word of God in a fun atmosphere. Every year we have children that learn many verses by heart, and I believe it builds a foundation for them to know the Lord and to live for Him.

However, all of these children face the same decision that we, as adults, face. We must decide to live out what we know of God's Word. It is not enough to know it intellectually. It has to be lived out in our daily lifestyle for it to have God's intended purpose in our lives. That is what Awana teaches, and that is what we all need to learn.

I would challenge all of us to take an inventory of what we know the Bible says. Then, we need to ask ourselves, "How am I doing at living by this Word from God?" I believe we can examine our lives to see the proof. If we are faithful to live by God's Word, we will see His blessings in our lives, but if we are failing to do what we know, we will see His punishment.

Some People do not like for me or anyone to talk about punishment. However, Hebrews 12:5f shows us that God's chastening or punishment is good. He is trying to show us the right way like a good father does to his children. He is showing us that living by the Word is a must. Let's not fight against our Heavenly Father. Let's decide to live out the Word every day.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Job 18-20.
