A New Thing

 I am afraid that many of us are very limited in our thinking. We tend to see things through the lens of what has already happened in our lives. Then, when we consider the future, we just see the same things happening over again. That is very harmful for us. We can't get out of our rut. Instead, we need to think outside of the box. We need to look for a new thing or a new way to go, if that is better than what has been in the past. 

The great thing is that God is the One who can do those new things. He is not limited, at all. We need to see Him that way, and trust Him to do a new thing in our lives when we need it. God told Israel this truth. (Isaiah 43:19) He told them to behold that He would do a new thing; it would just spring forth, and they would know it. He would even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. I think God made His point for them and for us today.

Do you find yourself in a wilderness time in your life? Things seem to be barren, and you can't see any way that things will change for the better. You think about how things have always been in your life, and based on what has happened you can't see anything going better now. Please, remember that God can and will make a road in the wilderness to show us the way, if we will call upon Him and trust that He has the power to do a new thing.

Maybe, you are going through a desert time in your soul. Your spiritual life is dry. You are having a hard time moving forward because you are just doing what you have always done. I believe God wants to do a new thing in your life to refresh your soul. He wants to pour out His living water on your life. However, in order for that to happen we have to be willing to let Him do a new thing for us. It may be scary at first, but it will be very satisfying when God does it for us.
