Trying to Cover Sin
I am sure we have all done things for which we are very sorry. When we did them, we felt so bad that we just wanted to try to cover up what we had done. We just wanted to forget about it and let it go. That never works. God is not going to let sin go unpunished. He knows how harmful it is, and He wants us to learn to do what is right.
Therefore, the Bible tells us a great truth about this situation. (Proverbs 28:13) If we try to cover our sins, we will not prosper, but if we confess and forsake our sins, we will have mercy. This is a huge problem for many people. They are still trying to cover their sins, so their lives are not prospering, but floundering. We need to hear what this verse is saying.
Instead of covering our sins, we need to confess them and forsake them. Then, God will have mercy on us, and other people will tend to be merciful to us, as well. When I went back to pastor my home church in Decatur, I had to go and confess a sin I had committed years before, I had just tried to cover that sin, but I realized the person against whom I sinned probably knew what I had done. Since I humbled myself, confessed, and forsook my sin, God had mercy on me, and this sin did not hurt our church or my pastorate. In fact, God was able to prosper it.
That is what all of us need to do today and every day. There has been a lot of speculation in the news lately about Jeffery Epstein and those who were associated with Him in his evil practices. It seems there are those who are trying to cover their sins, but it isn't working. They just need to confess their sins and forsake them. Then, mercy will be their reward. If not, they will not prosper. God will make sure of that.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Proverbs 29-31 and Ecclesiastes 1-2.
