A Prudent Wife

Please, allow me a little time to reminisce today, as well as delivering a message form the Word of God. There are some people who just don't know what they really need from the Lord. A lot of people are totally focused on getting money and the things that money can buy. They miss the really important things in life. Others are desiring a wife or a husband, but they are mainly looking for a beautiful lady or a handsome man. They are missing it, too.

The Bible is clear on this point. (Proverbs 19:14) Houses and riches are what we get as an inheritance or a gift from our fathers, but a prudent wife is what the Lord will give us. Of course, not everyone receives a prudent wife. She is a gift from God, so we have to be praying for God to give us His choice for us, and His choice will be a prudent wife. Let me expound on this for us a little bit.

God sent me to Chris' surprise 17th birthday party as a direct answer to a specific prayer. I specifically asked God for His young lady for me. He graciously answered that prayer. Chris put her trust in Christ not long after we met, and she devoured her Bible. He grew in the Lord and became a very prudent wife, on top of being beautiful and loving. What a gift from God!

God gave her to me to complete me. We were very different in many ways. I had to learn to listen to her prudence. Sometimes, her thinking did not agree with mine. I had to stop and think about what she was saying. She wasn't always right, so I had to correct her at times. However, her prudence added so much value to our relationship. That is why all of us men need prudent wives, and the ladies need prudent husbands. Then, we can sharpen each other to do the Lord's will very well.
