Done in Advance
It is always good to get things done well in advance of when they need to be done. That way we do not have the stress of having a deadline looming before us, but we have not finished the task yet. Unfortunately, many of us are procrastinators, so we put off things until the last minute. God is never like that, and He doesn't want us to be under that stress either.
God came to Joshua after the people had crossed the Jordan River on dry ground, He made a firm declaration to His leader. (Joshua 6:2) The Lord said to Joshua, "See, I have given Jericho into your hand, its king, and all the mighty men of valor." Do you see what this means? The children of Israel had not done anything to take over Jericho yet, but God has already given the city into their hands. That is how God works.
God always accomplishes His will. He never fails to do what He knows is the right thing for His kingdom and His people. When God shows us what He wants us to do, we can be assured that God has already accomplished it in advance. All we have to do is to trust Him and do what He says. We should have no fear of being defeated or being a failure.
That fear is what plagues many Christians. We don't want to step out and do what God has told us to do, because we are afraid of failing. The key is hearing from the Lord. When we seek His face, and we hear from Him clearly, we can know that He will provide what is needed and give us the strength and wisdom to do His will. He did that for Joshua and Israel, and He will do it for us every time.
