Pollution of the Land

I am sure that we would all agree that pollution of the land where we live is a serious matter.  Our lives can be greatly damaged, or we can even die because of pollution. If the ground is polluted by chemicals, the crops can be harmful to us. If the water is polluted, it not only is not fit to drink, but it also can bring harm to the fish and other animals. See what I mean? Pollution is a silent and invisible enemy that brings harm to us. However, there is another type of pollution that many people never consider. It is the pollution of the land by murder. God's Word is clear about this threat. (Numbers 35:33) Murder pollutes the land, and no sacrifice except the execution of the murderer can purify the land from murder. I know this is an Old Testament law that pertained to the land of Israel, but I believe it has validity today, as well.

All human life is sacred in God's eyes. All of the Bible teaches us that we are made in God's image. Therefore, when someone kills another human being, it is a very serious offense against God. He gave that person life, and He placed His image upon Him, so only God has the authority to end a human life. That is why from the blood of Abel being shed by his brother, Cain, until today, the land is polluted by murder. God calls for the execution of the murder to purify the land of this sin. However, in America today, as well as in other countries of the world, murder is rampant in many forms. We can't listen to the news any time without hearing about a murder. Then, there are many abortions that are done every day, which murder an unborn human being created in God's image. We even have abortion pills now to murder a newly conceived child. Therefore, our land is highly polluted by murder, and I am sure this grieves the Lord and keeps Him from blessing our land. It probably is even causing a curse upon our land, too. I pray for a great revival to break out in this world, so we will see the evil and turn to the Lord, so He can pour out His blessings.
