God Gathering His People

God loves for His people to be together. Since God is love, He desires to have fellowship with us and for us to have fellowship with other believers. Like the saying goes, "The more the merrier." He longs for His people to live together in holiness, being like Jesus together. Also, God blesses unity among His people. Because of all these things and more, God is in the business of gathering His people after we have been scattered. He is all about bringing us together for His glory and for our good. He told Micah to tell the people of God that He would gather the tribes of Jacob back together after the exile. (Micah 2:12) He promised to collect the remnant of Israel, too. That way, they would be like sheep in a pen, or like a flock in the middle of its pasture. There would be so many people it would be noisy with people. I believe we see God's heart in this verse, and we need to think about what it means for us.

What should we hear when we walk into a worship center just before the service begins? I believe the Lord wants it to be noisy with people. One of the worst feelings is to enter for worship, only to find a handful of silent, separated people. The same is true for entering a Bible study room. Isn't it sad to see only a few people sitting quietly, when there should be fellowship and love being expressed in a large group? So, what does that say to us? We need to pray to God to do for us today what He promised to do for the Jewish people in Micah's day. Then, we need to get right with God ourselves, so we are ready to love like Jesus and be one in the Spirit as He commands. That is what I am praying to happen in our church family. I am praying for God to gather His people after the pandemic. I am praying for us to get right and enjoy all of the blessings of God. I long for the day when everywhere we turn it will be "noisy with people," children, youth, and adults all around, enjoying the Lord and each other. It is beginning to happen at North Henry now, and I pray our revival services next week will be a great time of gathering God's people. I pray that He will do His part, and we will do our part to be the  great flock in the center of God's pasture. Will you pray and strive for this, too, not just at our church, but in every church where Jesus is exalted and God's Word is faithfully taught? I pray we will.
