Let Your Eyes Look Forward
It is easy to get distracted by all of the things going on around us and to lose sight of where we are going in our lives. This is very dangerous, just like walking without looking where we are going. We could trip over anything or be blindsided as we are looking away. That is why the Lord inspired Solomon to give us clear direction for how we should live each day. (Proverbs 4:25-26) We must let our eyes look forward, fixing our gaze straight ahead. Then, as we carefully consider the path for our feet, all our ways will be established. This is solid wisdom for each of us, no matter where we find ourselves in our lives right now.
I wonder how many of us are really looking forward? I am afraid there are many people who are constantly looking back. They are allowing their focus to be on what happened in the past, instead of what they should be doing right now. This causes us to miss opportunities and to get us off the track of life God has for us. We can't change the past. We should learn from it and move forward. We must not be looking back all of the time. Also, we must consider the path we are taking in life. Is it the right way? Have we found God's will for us? If we haven't found it, we need to stop and spend time in prayer and in the Word, until we hear from the Lord. Then, we need to proceed on His path for us, and thus, our ways will be established by God. We will be on a good, steady course. Once we are on the right track, we must keep looking forward with the Lord, so we don't get on the wrong track again.
