The Battle is Not Yours, But God's
We can let fear rule our lives if we are not careful. Also, worry can be a constant problem that leads us not to look to the Lord, but at our problems. When we allow these things to happen, we will lead defeated lives. This is not God's will for any of His children. God is a good, good Father. He loves us, and He is there for us, no matter what situations of life we face. We need to learn this and rest in the Lord's arms. That is what King Jehoshaphat and the people of Judah learned when they heard God's message from the prophet, as they were about to be attacked by a huge enemy. (II Chronicles 20:15) God's message was for them not to be afraid or discouraged because of the vast number of enemies. God told them to remember that the battle was not theirs to fight, but the battle was God's. That is why they could be confident of God's intervention. We can have the same level of confidence today, no matter what enemy we are facing.
Why live life in fear? Why live in a state of discouragement? If we know the Lord, we should know that He has a wonderful plan for our lives. He is not going to allow anything to happen to us except the things that will causes us to trust Him more and grow us to be more like Jesus. Therefore, we can be assured that when He allows an enemy to attack us, He will give us a way to be victorious. What we have to do is ask God what we should do. Then, we obey Him, and He will be on our side. In fact, He sees the battle as His battle to fight for us. He knows we can't win on our own. That is why He takes the lead in the battle away from us, and He enters the fray to deliver us in His way and in His time. Ours is but to listen and obey. Then, we can watch as God defeats the enemy. That is what should happen every day in the life of every believer. We are to live in victory, not in fear and discouragement and defeat.
