Life Adjustments Because of Our Faith

When we are following the Lord, we have to be true to our convictions. Sometimes, that causes us to have to make adjustments to our life. Those adjustments can be small, or they can be huge. It is all a part of us following the Lord in every way He directs us to go. The people of the 10 tribes of Israel had to make a major adjustment when Jeroboam  became king. Jeroboam told the people to worship golden calves, instead of worshiping God. He did not want them to return to Jerusalem to worship, so they would not defect from Israel to Judah. However, this terrible tactic did not work for many people. The priests and Levites who lived among the 10 tribes of Israel went back to Judah, and so did many of the people. (II Chronicles 11:16) These were the people who had determined in their hearts to seek the Lord and to sacrifice to the Lord, the God of their ancestors, not the false gods of Jeroboam. I wonder what we would do if we had to make such a decision in our life?

God called on many people in the Bible to leave their homeland and their families to follow Him. Abraham left his country and family, and he did not know where he was going until he arrived. He simply trusted God when He said go. Joseph was sold into slavery by his brothers, and he went to live in Egypt. He made that adjustment, trusting the Lord, even through a time in prison. Then, God blessed him to save his people from the famine. If he had rebelled against God's plan, it would have turned out much differently for him. We all need to be ready to make adjustments. It might be taking a new job. It might be moving to a new place. It could be moving to a different country with a different language. The question is would we be so firm in our faith in God and our convictions to follow Him that we made these adjustments willingly? I pray we will all consider this, because we never want to get out of God's will because we are stuck in our ways or addicted to our comfortable situation. Let's be ready to adjust to follow God fully.
