Much More than Enough

God commanded Moses to build the Tabernacle according to the exact design God showed him on Mt. Sinai. God even called out the main craftsmen who were skilled to do the work on every part of the tent, the furnishings, and the clothing, along with the anointing oil and incense. It was quite a responsibility. Then, there was given a call for everyone to give a freewill offering of these materials, so they would have everything from gold and silver to blue and purple cloth. As the people gave, the workers began to work. Then, a surprising thing happened. The workers told Moses that the people brought "much more than enough." (Exodus 36:5,6) Therefore, Moses made a proclamation that the people were not to bring any more items for the construction of the Tabernacle, so the people were restrained from bringing any more. Now, that is a glorious problem to have.

Our human nature leads most of us to do just enough of what we need to do to get by. We even procrastinate in doing what we do, so we put it off to the last minute. God is not that way. He gives bountifully, and He gives it to us in plenty of time for what we need. If we have our hearts right with God, and we are doing His will freely, like the Israelites in the construction work, then, we will voluntarily give much more than enough. Just think if that happened in every church with the tithes and offerings. We would be able to reach the world for Christ so much better than we can now. What if Christians gave this way for every special offering, too? We would have much more money for benevolence and missions projects, too. At the same time, I know if we would give more than just the minimum that is needed, God would take care of us and even bless us more, because of our generosity with His money. Please, join me in praying for Christians today to be willing to bring to the Lord's work "much more than enough."
