Joseph's Dreams

We can't make ourselves dream in a certain way. Any time we have a dream, we always wonder why we had such a dream or what it means. I believe many times there is no special meaning to our dreams, but God does communicate with us through dreams when He desires to do that. Joseph had two dreams. In the first dream his brothers bowed before him, and in the second his parents and his brothers bowed down to the ground before him in homage. Naturally, Joseph asked them what the dreams meant, not out of pride, but really wanting to know. When he told his father, Jacob, he rebuked him and asked if Joseph really thought his whole family would bow to him. (Genesis 37:10,11) The dreams made his brothers jealous of him, but his father kept what he said in mind. I believe this dream gives us a good lesson in the ways of God.

Many times God gives us, as believers, a clue as to what He will do for us later on in our life. He might not come out and show us every detail, even though, He did that several times in the Bible. What He is doing is showing us that He has a plan for us, and giving us incentive to watch for that to happen. That way, we will not be taken back when it actually happens. Could it be that Josephs' dreams were just what helped him stay faithful to the Lord through all of his years of trials and pain? It could be that Joseph was effected by them in that way. God is a master of giving us hope. Hope is never getting to the place where we think all is lost, and we give up on God working. He never wants His children to come to despair like that, and He will do whatever He needs to do to assure us of His work now and in the future. Please, do not ever lose hope. Think back of all God has shown you and how He has worked in the past, so you will always look forward to the future, never losing hope in the Lord.
