Dependent on Every Other Part
Most people do not have a good understanding of the church. Church is not a building. It is not just a time to come for worship. The church is a group of believers whose purpose it is to become like Jesus and to serve Him well. To reach this high calling we need to know that God designed our bodies as a model for us to use to understand our lives together as a church. (I Corinthians 12:25) Each part of our body needs the other parts, so we need each other. There must not be division among the parts of the body, because we need to be dependent on every other part of the body. That way, we help build each other up to be like Jesus, and we are able to serve the Lord in a coordinated way, which accomplishes much more than doing things separately. This includes all of the parts of the body, whether we think that part is important or not. Each part is essential. Please, take time to consider this truth as you go to worship today.
We could not live without our stomach or liver, but we never see those parts of our body. We could not do as much work whiteout our hands and feet. In the same way, we must realize we are dependent upon each other as the body of Christ. We need what every part supplies, so we must cultivate that fellowship and cooperation. We need to learn from each other, so we see how God has helped each of us, so we are all made stronger. That is why we need more than worship services. We need small groups of all kinds, and we need to spend time with others in our church body, praying, learning, discussing the word of God, and sharing what God has done for us. If we are not doing this in our church, then, that body is not as healthy as it should be for the Lord. The church is not reaching people for Jesus as we should. God is not pleased, and we are not as fulfilled as we should be. Let's make it a point to connect with other believers in our church body and see what God is able to do.
