Be Careful Who You Follow
This is not a political post at all. I try hard to stay away from politics. I do not want anyone to be turned off to the gospel because of something I say about politics. This post is about reality in the world today. There are a lot of people who are following the wrong leaders today. I can say that with confidence because our country and our world are so divided between vastly different ideologies. Both sides can't be right. There must be a right way and a wrong way in everything. That is why Jesus gave the people a proverb to consider, "Can a blind man guide a blind man? Wouldn't they both end up in a ditch?" (Luke 6:39,40) I believe it would do us all good to consider this proverb and to be careful who we follow as our teacher. We are definitely the apprentices, and the Lord is the Master, so we do not need to be telling the Master what to teach.
We are all blind to a certain degree. None of us has a perfect understanding of every issue. We all need leadership from a wise leader who will guide us in the right way. The only truly Wise Leader is the Lord, and He has given us the Word of Truth, the Bible. Also, He has given all believers the Spirit of Truth, the Holy Spirit, to lead us into all truth. Therefore, we need to listen to the Master, not any one human or group. We need to weigh everything by what the Bible says, and we need to make sure we take the whole counsel of God's Word, not just the parts that we agree with. If we do follow blind leaders, we will both end up in the ditch of life. If we are so proud that we lecture the Master, it will not end well for us. I pray we will all be very careful who we follow as our teacher.
