Trusting through Our Troubles
When King Hezekiah got sick and came to the end of his life, Isaiah told him to get ready to die. However, Hezekiah prayed earnestly to the Lord, and God agreed to give him 15 more years of life. That made Hezekiah very happy. He stopped to pray and thank God for all of His blessings over the years. In fact, he even realized that the troubles had been good for him. (Isaiah 40-43) As he looked back he saw all that God had done for him, and he rejoiced in God's faithfulness to him. We need to do the same thing in our lives. Let's see what we can learn from Hezekiah and then, let's apply it in our own lives.
In reality, we learn much more through troubles than we do through our successes. In troubles we learn our weaknesses, and we are driven to trust God even more. When we succeed, we have the temptation to be proud, and then think we are special, so we fail to depend on God. Also, when we have troubles, we see how God delivers us out of them or brings good out of the trouble. He always holds tight to our lifeline, so we don't sink completely. Also, God never lets us tumble over the edge into nothing. His arms hold us, and the great thing is that He does let go of our sins. He throws them away forever. What a picture of God's faithfulness and grace for us. Let's take time and see how many times God has done this for us, and let's thank Him.
