Mere Mortals Can't Run Their Own Lives
Life is very difficult. Life requires all kinds of strength, and we must know how to make quick decisions, as well as, long term decisions that effect us and others. When we try to do this on our own, we find out just what God inspired Jeremiah to tell us. Mere mortals can't run their own lives. Men and women don't have what it takes to take charge of life. Therefore, we need the correction of the Lord in His kindness, but not in His wrath, because that would be the end of us. (Jeremiah 10:23, 24) If we miss this truth, we will end up failing miserably at life, even if we find a few things we can do well.
As mortals, men and women do not possess knowledge of the future, so any decision about what will happen will be flawed to some degree. When we make quick decisions, we will tend to base them on emotions or flawed human knowledge, if we make them on our own. The only way to run our lives is to turn them over to the Lord and allow Him to take charge of them. When we surrender to Him, He is glad to guide us and correct us as He knows best. Since He knows all things, He can show us what to do. Since His power is complete, He can give us the power to resist the temptations to do the wrong things quickly, too. When we surrender our life to God it pleases Him, so He lovingly corrects us. There is no need for Him to lose His temper and bring us to our end. Instead, He guides us to His end for our lives, which is full of His blessings here and heaven once we leave this world. What could be better?
Tomorrow, I intend to read Jeremiah 11-13.
