True Wisdom and Real Power
People search for wisdom and understanding by studying books written by other people. Many people think that very intelligent people are wise, and they look to them for all of the answers of life. At the same time, there are a lot of people who think humans are the most powerful beings, and that we have real power to do whatever we can conceive. Both of these views are wrong. God is the Source of true wisdom and real power. If we are going to have it, we have to go to Him. That is how we learn how to live and what to live for. (Job 12:13) Even Job knew this in around 2,000 BC. I wonder why we still have a hard time learning this truth today?
Pride is inherent in human nature. Our flesh, or human nature, leads us to think very highly of ourselves. We tend to think we know what is best and that we know more than other people. However, most of us realize we have limitations on our ability to understand things, so we look to those who are "experts" to help us know what is wise in their area of expertise. We also realize we have limitations on our power and ability to accomplish things, so we look to others for help. Yes, we are supposed to help each other, but we must always remember that God holds the keys to true wisdom and real power. We must go to Him, or someone who knows Him well, to receive those precious commodities. It is only from God that we receive instruction on how to truly live this life, as He created us to live it. He is also the only One to whom we can go for insight into what we are to live for. This is why so many people do not live in a satisfying way, and they have no real purpose in life, except to make money and enjoy pleasure. Both of those things are temporal. They will be useless when we die. However, if we have gone to the Lord for true wisdom and real power, we will live lives that will receive His commendation and His rewards forever.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Job 16-18.
