God's Invited Guest
Psalm 5 is a psalm of David. It speaks of David's habit to go to the Lord every morning for direction for his life. David knew that he could not navigate through the obstacles of this world by Himself. Therefore, he made it a practice to pray and seek the Lord in the morning. I believe this was one of the main factors in David's success and in what made him a man after God's own heart. He did not just go to God in prayer, he knew he was God's invited guest. He realized that God's invitation was open for him to approach His throne at any time. Therefore, David entered His presence with a sense of awe and worship. He fell at God's feet waiting for directions to get him safely through enemy lines. (Psalm 5:7,8) Of course, I believe all believers should realize these things and do this every day.
The morning is a very special time. It is a new beginning. Every morning we have the opportunity to find God's will for that day and decide to trust the Lord's direction and power to do it. Many people miss this opportunity. They rush into the day, and they depend on their own resources to get them through. Often, that is all they do is get through. There is no victory, because the enemy and his forces are all around to attack them and bring them to defeat. They are no match for the devil alone. However, if we hear God's invitation, and we enter His house, His throne room, in humble worship, He will gladly give us our marching orders to get us safely through the enemies lines for that day. What a great privilege! Why miss the chance? Why live in defeat? Let's take God's invitation seriously and live in victory.
