The Fruitful Christian Life
Psalm 1 is a comparison and contrast of the wicked and the righteous. It is God's way of showing us two paths in life, the right way and the wrong way. It is not rocket science, as they say. If we choose to go away from God and embrace sin, our life will lead to destruction. However, if we embrace the Lord and His way, we will have a fruitful life that leads to eternity with Him. The psalmist knew this and described the life of a believer who was fully sold out to the Lord. (Psalm 1:2-3) I believe it is a great message for all of us as Christians today.
Is the Bible just a book to us, or do we thrill to God's Word? In other words, does the Word of God bring us great joy to read it and to do it? If we love the Lord, we will love His Word, and it will bring a great sense of excitement to us, as we apply it and see how God blesses it. Then, we will meditate on it day and night. Yes, it will be our food. We will digest it, so it will bring us strength. It will not be a chore to feed on it. It will be our delicacy. When we are living like this, we will be like a tree planted by the River of Life that was in the Garden of Eden, and it will be in heaven. We will constantly bear fruit of all kinds. We will always be growing and see other people brought to the Lord and becoming like Jesus, because they see Jesus in us, and they hear us speaking of His Word that is in our heart. What a life! Nothing could be better.
