Christmas is Love
As we said previously, John was able to comprehend Christmas in a very personal and complete way, since He lived with Jesus, the God/Man, for 3 years, along with the other disciples. He not only came to be convinced of His humanity and deity, but He saw the true purpose of Christmas and the motivation behind it. (I John 4:9) We all need to see this truth for our Christmas to be all that it should be.
Jesus was God's love revealed to us. Jesus was God's one and only Son, who came out of the love of God, so that we might live through Him. God, the Father, and God, the Son, knew that Jesus coming to take on human flesh was the only hope for mankind to be freed from sins and have eternal life. Therefore, Jesus left heaven to come here and die for us. Therefore, Christmas shows God's purpose of salvation and His motivation, which was His perfect love for all people. It is much like a person walking by a burning house and rushing in to save the people who are trapped inside. That is a great act of love, especially if that person loses his or her life in the process of saving them. We should all praise Jesus for His love and thank Him for coming to give us life. We should do this at Christmas and all year long. Then, we need to tell others what Christmas is all about, too, so they can have life through Jesus.
