My Redeemer Lives

When we consider that Job lived at the time of Abraham or even before that, his insights into God's nature and will are amazing. The book of Job was probably the first book of the Bible to be written. However, it has doctrines that we find in the New Testament clearly stated. One of these was when Job told his friends that his Redeemer was alive. (Job 19:25,26) It is obvious that Job knew about Jesus and his planned redemption of mankind by His precious blood.

Not only did Job know that he had a Redeemer, but he knew that Jesus was coming to this earth. He could have been referring to the first coming of Christ to save us, but of course, He will return a second time to rule and reign, too. The word "Redeemer" comes from the doctrine of Jesus paying for our sins, so He could save us by His grace, as a free gift. To do that, He had to become a man while remaining 100% God, at the same time. There is no other religion on earth that teaches this doctrine of salvation as a gift. Then, Job even knew that when his earthly body was destroyed, he would have a new body, so he could see God. In all of this Job was showing us his confident relationship with God, and how God had revealed truth to him through that relationship. I pray that each of us has such a strong faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, our Redeemer, and in the reality of heaven for all believers. That is God's will for every person. It is why Jesus came to die for all of us.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Job 22-24.
