The Weapons of Our Warfare

The concept of spiritual warfare is foreign to most people, even most believers. We live in the flesh, and we interact with others with our five senses, so we tend to think that is all there is to this world, and if we have a problem, we must deal with it according to our flesh by what we say or do to others. That is totally false for Christians. We live in the flesh, but when it comes to our warfare, our weapons are divinely powerful. They are spiritual weapons, not weapons of the flesh, and they are capable of destroying spiritual fortresses built up by Satan in our lives, and in the lives of others. (II Corinthians 10:3,4) However, we must use those weapons consistently and well for the right results to be accomplished.

Satan and his force of demons are behind all of the evil, conflict, and hatred in this world. When we encounter a problem with another person, they are not the problem. Satan is behind what is going on, and it is the ideas, feelings, and fortresses he has built up that cause the conflicts. Therefore, it never does any good to attack another person with words or physically. It doesn't do any good to get hard feelings toward them or ignore them. The only way for a solution is through the Word of God and prayer, so that we ask God to pull down the thoughts, arguments, and fortresses, so peace can be accomplished and understanding can be achieved. Anything less will make things worse. We can use the Word as the Sword of the Spirit, but we must use it in the power of the Spirit to heal, not to hurt. We can pray for God to change their heart, so we can be reconciled and understand each other. God does not force people to change, but the Word and prayer are powerful weapons in the hands of the Spirit to bring about God's will.

Tomorrow, I intend to read II Corinthians 11-13.
