They will Look on Me, Whom They have Pierced
We are told in Romans 11 that a day is coming when "all Israel will be saved." I take that literally to mean all of the Jews who are alive after the Rapture of the church. They will all realize Jesus was the Messiah, and they will turn to Him by grace through faith. That seems to be what Zechariah is referring to in Zechariah 12:10. I am not sure if this is a literal time when they will look on Jesus, or if it is when they realize He is the Lord of all, and they killed Him. However, either way they will weep and mourn, as God pours out on them the Spirit of grace and of supplication. It will be a genuine time of repentance as they trust the Lord Jesus Christ.
Just like this will happen for the house of David, it needs to happen for all of us. We all need to know that it was our sins that nailed Jesus to the Cross, so in a sense, we pierced Him, too. When we see our sin in that way, and we see how it caused the death of the sinless Son of God, we will weep and mourn over the consequences of our wickedness to the One who loves us so much that He would die for us. If that has never happened to you, I would encourage you to read the accounts of Jesus' death and the explanation of why Jesus had to die in Paul's letters, until you have a clear view of what happened. I believe it will bring you to your knees in mourning and finally in thanksgiving for the bountiful love of Jesus and His priceless sacrifice for our sins.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Zechariah 13-14 and Malachi 1.
