Some Benefits of the Fear of the Lord
Since we brought out the curse of not fearing the Lord yesterday, let's consider the positive side of fearing the Lord today. Malachi makes it very picturesque as he closes out his prophecy. (Malachi 4:2) There are definite benefits that come from having a healthy fear of the Lord. I pray we are all experiencing them today.
When people fear the name of the Lord, God will make sure they blessed with healing and joy. The picture that the Lord gave us through Malachi was the image of a sunrise, except it was the "sun of righteousness." When people live in righteousness before God, fearing His name, He brightens their days by sending spiritual healing to them. There are huge benefits to living as God designed, and we feel it in our lives, when our sins are forgiven, and we are walking closely with the Lord each day. We "go forth and skip about like calves from the stall." We are set free from the bondage of sin and Satan's strongholds in our lives. We are able to live in the victory of the Spirit. It all begins with the fear of the Lord, which produces righteousness in us, as we trust the Lord and live by grace through faith in Him every day.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Matthew 1-3.
